sunshower

***
it said on the sunday forecast that monday would be sunrain.
it said on the sunday forecast that monday would be 57 and wetbright.
i didn't know what this meant, so i prepared for neither
and made it class hardly noticing anything but what Mama Said, anyways.
at one-thirty-seven on the white castlesteps to Wheeler, it spattered rain-light
on us.  we were more bewildered than before, but we held out our faces and hands
in delerious delight, like children overcome with newness and astonishment
I Have A Feeling, he said, and paused to turn his face upwards
That This Will Be Fleeting.

& the bits of sunshower alighting on his mirror-eyes confused me,
because i couldn't remember which This he meant me to understand.

for the rest of the day i thought with each step, i
have a feeling that this will be fleeting.
