in front of all those bright golden hearts
drinking all that sweet bronze froth,
my teeth in the shoulder of your sweater

while we were standing on that cold corner
in front of all those bright soft flowers
drinking all those sad silver tears,
her moist sad breath pooling in my clavicle
chattering, I'm So Glad You're Here, So Glad
and she knowing nothing about who i am [BONNIE]

while we were sleeping in that big little bed
at the end of all that bizarre and surreal
drinking all that bottomless night through a patient straw,
our breaths unfurled into the duvet gone pastel gray
chanting, We Are Here, We Are Glad, We Are Here
(we are sad, but we are sincere, we are still here) [MD]

gratitude - to a friend i never knew, but i heard he was a good one
and to the friends i know, i have, who are good to me
