"
Sometimes the development of a delusion leads to a cessation of tension, and is associated with a feeling of tranquillity and certainty, such as the patient had not hitherto experienced.  A study of the past history of these cases sometimes creates the impression that the whole life had been converging to its solution in the psychosis in an inevitable kind of way.  It is not unusual for a patient to say that his whole life had been like a dream, and that he now feels awake for the first time.  The delusion is, as it were, the inspiration for which he had long been waiting... Something altogether unique is created in a[n XOF] psychosis; the mind is invaded by morbid mental growths.
