and my mind flickered at once into a roulette of shrapnel phrases, but settled fast to one answer, two words.
she must have thought i was still deciding, but really i was hesitating because i saw her beautiful profile and gentle eyes &
i wanted so badly to tell her that my answer was There's Hope or We Love or something equally serene-
but in the end i knew i couldn't lie and the two words fell from my mouth:
I Can't.
